QFOs

QFOs = Quilts For Others.

We're not quite at that point yet, but we are making pillow cases for women's shelters, and we made a little start on the convict bonnets for the Bonnet Project "Roses From The Heart" for Christina Henri.

About the convict bonnets:
Christina aims to honour the 25, 566 convict women that were transported to Australia from 1788-1853 by making a display of convict bonnets - one for each of the women. She is seeking volunteers to make and donate bonnets with the name of one woman (and the name of the boat if it is known) embroidered on. Members of our group have been "volunteered"!! LOL!!

Helen cut pieces from (Annette's) calico for everyone to sew next week. Lorraine won't be there next week, so she worked on a prototype for the group "tutorial".
The bonnet needs ribbon, then the names will be embroidered.

Margot helped Annette to make her pillowcase for the women's shelter. What a busy Winter's night! (Lucky there were only four of us, we used up nearly all the space!!).

Remember! Next week it will only take about 30 minutes to sew together a convict bonnet. Annette is bringing her machine, we won't all need to bring one. If you have any ribbon, please bring it for the bonnets.
