Cold Wednesday

Another Wednesday night, and the heater wasn't working! Thankfully, the temperatures weren't too frosty, so, armed with a hot cuppa, we still enjoyed the sewing.
Show and tell for the monthly challenge - quilted journal covers.
From left to right - my 'goth' cover, complete with pen holder. Unfortunately, a little too small, but good to practice. I just adore that fabric (Nevermore; Michael Miller), gotta get me some more.
Then Sue's cover, a pretty blue/brown fabric with owls galore! Finally, Tracee's cover, made from wonderful fabric depicting vintage postcards. Love it. Tania was still in the process of finishing hers, so watch this space.
The other show and tell item was Sue's little owl bag, just so cute! Sue's getting really good at this 'free range quilting' business.
The ladies were very kind to help me sew together a quilt top, should have most of it done by next time. Tania was finishing her crochet rug, and starting a new one.
Hopefully there's be heating!

The Owl has landed!

And what do I find when I open my little sewing box the other day - a cute little owl purse!
Now how did that get in there???!! Hmm, must have been my fellow owl-o-phile! Thank you, kind friend!!!

Owls

I found this cute little bag at the antiques center at Daylesford - it was a have to get for Donna and her owl collection! Sooo cute!!

Owls galore!

Well, Sue has been well and truly bitten by the owl 'bug'! She brought in these little beauties last night - aren't they just adorable?! Sue felted them - literally putting blood, sweat and tears into the little critters!

Donna was very privileged to take some of them home and introduce them to her ever-growing 'family' of owls. They seem quite happy together! Thank you, Sue!

More crafty things

Sue made some more owls, this time polynesian ones! Love that little grass skirt!

Then there's Sue's crocheted blanket, very colourful and snuggly!

And then there's Tania's beautiful William Morris fat 1/4 quilt, just stunning!

And last but definitely not least - Marg's amazing stitcheries quilt - so much work, and beautifully made!

Such fun to be part of this talented group of people!

owls & things

Well looks like I'm the lonely voice of Gisborne Quilters! Where is everybody? Thought I'd post a photo of the owls and other bird species that keep turning up at the group. Sue started the craze, now I'm hooked...
From left to right - Chill, Willie, Nelson, Slim, Dusty, Lax (all Donna's) and in the foreground The Hillbillies (Sue's creations). They multiply quickly....
