Merry Christmas, Gisborne Quilters!
I just wanted to wish you all a lovely Christmas and a great New Year! I'm looking forward to lots of quilting with you, and to lots of fun on Wednesday evenings!
January is usually time for a break in the quilt groups, but this year it seems quite a few of my quilting friends are around, so I invite you to a sit & sew at my place on Saturday, 8th January, at 1:30pm. If you could let me know you're coming, a few days beforehand, that would be great. Just email me on donnamcnb@hotmail.com and then I can send you directions if needed.
Happy quilting, stitching, knitting, crafting....

1st birthday evening
!st Birthday
We had a great gathering at Vines to celebrate our 1st birthday of togetherness! Donna, Rosie, Lorraine, Pauline, Margo,Helen,Tania and Sue. Some had a desert - the lemon meringue pie was tooo tempting for Lorraine, there were other goodies around the table to. There was good music to listen to and lots of chatting then we headed off to attempt to do a few stitches.

1st birthday!
We're celebrating our group's first birthday next week! Happy Birthday to us!!
To mark the occasion, we're heading to Vines (ex-Roombas) for a wee drinkie at
7pm next Wednesday evening. Hope you can all make it. We haven't decided whether to come back to the library room for quilting & stitching afterwards, depends how comfortable we get at Vines, and how straight our stitches are likely to be.....
Great to see how far the group has come in one year - so much talent, lots of fun, learning all the time, sharing good times (and sometimes not so good), and making friends. Just what a friendship group should be! I for one am very happy to spend my time with my crafty friends!

Crafting weekend
Oops!!! When we arrived at St Leonards we noticed the front passenger tyre on Annette's car was a little flat, it went down as we watched it. Saturday Annette called the RACV, the tyre was changed and spare put on - but it is a temp tyre and Annette was advised to get it fixed before driving back to Woodend. So we had an outing n Saturday morning to Drysdale.Tyre power here we come ..The tyre was examined and taken off to be fixed. We wandered off down the street to have a cuppa and see what we could see. We found an art exhibition, then had a cuppa, then looked in the community craft shop and then back to the tyre place - Annette then realised that she had the car keys in her bag!!!!! But not to worry, the tyre was fixed and put on the car in 5 mins and we returned to our sewing.

Having adventures....
Well dear Gisborne Quilters, I'll be off hunting bears (or vice versa) for a while. I'll catch up with you and tell you about my bear adventures - and others - in October. And maybe a show and tell from my quilt shop adventures, too! Hope to see lots of new and exciting projects once I'm back!

Busy bees
Last night brought out the quilters despite the horrid weather! Our best wishes to Tania, who wasn't feeling too well; hope things look up soon.
Margo was finishing off some bonnets with Annette's 'encouragement', Lorraine and Rosie were working on their quilts, Sue was continuing with her Xmas stitchery, Helen with her cross stitch, and I was making my very last star for my swap quilt. Great to see Marg again, too. Somebody had brought in some interesting mags, and Annette brought in her "Kiwi" tea.
Lorraine was putting the binding on a lovely Christmas table runner. The white chenille gave interesting texture to the runner and looked very much like a winter Xmas!
Margo also completed the top of her Christmas runner, a French braid QAYG style. Can't wait to see that one finished! Looks quite
spectacular.

QFO
Here was Margo zig zagging the seam edge - note finished hat in front of the sewing machine - well it needs ribbon and embroidery but most of the machine sewing is done - lots of creativity was unleashed when deciding what to put on the brim of the hat. It was wonderful to all be working on something together - very good feeling.
