Lots of exciting things happening in our little quilting corner!
On 24th October, Donna will show how to make a 1600 Jelly Roll quilt. We'll bring a plate to share for dinner, our machines, and a jelly roll. You'll also need scissors, 3-4 full bobbins, and if you prefer to use a walking foot, bring that along too.
On 14th November, we'll hold a stash swap. Bring fabric you don't want anymore, and maybe swap it for a new one!
On 8th December, the 'great unveiling' of the 2012 Quilt Challenge will take place at Gisborne Peak Winery. People who have worked on the "Australia quilt" and/or the "Poetry quilt" - and interested friends - are welcome to come along and display their quilts. Please let Donna know by 14NOV if you're attending.
Finally, the 12th of December is our last Wednesday evening sit&sew for 2012. It was suggested to get together for a high tea at Campaspe House and we'll set the date/time in one of our next meetings.
It all sounds like a lot of fun. Watch this space!
We are a group of quilters and stitchers, knitters and crafters who meet on Wednesday nights in Gisborne, Victoria. Like minded crafty folk are welcome to join us.

Wednesday activities
Two Wednesdays ago I thought it would be a good idea to take photos of what everyone was working on as they were working - that was until I saw a close up of my hands!!! Well!!! Sadly in need of hand cream me thinks!! But I think these photos show what a diverse group we are and gives a different look at what is happening!
More to come - love Donna's hexagons, they are coming along so well!

Show and tell
Christmas in July was a good opportunity to do some show and tell, and the prolific Annette showed us her latest creations, a beautiful table runner and a delightful quilt using gorgeous fabrics. The pattern is very interesting and would suit fabrics with a medium to large pattern, like those we 'hate' to cut into pieces. The quilting was also very beautiful.
Christmas in July
And a very jolly time was had by all! The quilters outdid themselves with yummy food - trifle, ginger slice, cookies, chocolate-dipped shortbread, cheese & fruit, fruitcake.... and a festive table cloth, flickering candles, a dancing Christmas frog (okay... - but he was cute!), and even a Santa Claus ensured the Christmas spirit was high! Beautiful carols playing in the background - one could almost think Christmas was upon us - and not just 5 months away.... The weather certainly is winter-dreary, and spending an evening with a fun group of friends a good way to chase away the winter blues.
