Healing hearts Quilt

My quilt is done and in the post - even sewed on the label this morning!! Hopefully it will bring happiness to someone in Christchurch who has been through the trauma with the earthquakes and many many aftershocks. Beautifully modeled by Tupai.

Wednesday 29th June we had another working bee and have placed and sewn together both Healing Hearts Quilts. ne needed a little TLC from Annette to get it sitting correctly, but both are well on the way and looking good.

We had a working bee evening tonight (June 22nd) and had a great time. Tania measured and cut the sashings, Helen, Maureen and Margo placed and pinned, Donna ironed and pinned and gave advice on how to iron the seams, Margo and I did some sewing - our best quarter inch seams!!! Then we had to stand back and look at the results. We are not quite finished but well on the way. Good job everyone - this quilt has been really made with love!!

Hearts, hearts and more hearts!! From Tania, Sue, Marg, Annette and Maureen. Donna picked hers up this week and is ready to go, Margo is working on hers and Dorothy is in NZ so we are waiting to see what she has done.

Work on the healing hearts is coming along - Marg's, Tania's and mine lined up last Wednesday(20th April). It is going to be interesting to see all the different types of fabric people have chosen.

Tania made a start on her blocks on Wednesday 7th April, she has chosen some lovely fabrics. Ollie also came along on the evening and made himself at home on the comfy chair - but kept a close eye on Tania! When we had a cuppa later on Ollie had a drink of water.

I found a pattern on the Kiwi quilts site called Healing Hearts. So I have decided to make blocks with the intention of making a quilt. I took it along to Quilting last week and all there decided we would make a few blocks each and put a quilt together as a group. So I purchased the fabric, and Marg came over last Monday and did the cutting - Marg is a precision cutter!! When all is done it will be sent to Christchurch, NZ.
